Happy New Year
The other day, I encountered someone who expressed their disdain for New Year's, lamenting that another year had slipped by, bringing us closer to the end.
I must admit, I was surprised. To me, the New Year signifies renewal and hope—a wonderful opportunity to pause and appreciate all that's occurred in the past year while honouring the blessings in our lives. It represents a fresh start: a new calendar, a clean slate, and a chance to embark on our journey of self-improvement.
Each year, I reaffirm my belief in goal setting, self-improvement, reflection, and gratitude rather than traditional New Year's resolutions.
As I reflect on the vibrant community at Parkdale United Church in 2024, my heart swells with joy at welcoming Mosaic Montessori. It is a true delight to witness 60 bright, eager children filling our space with laughter and energy each day!
I am incredibly grateful for the installation of air-conditioning on the church's main floor; it has turned our summer workdays into a refreshing experience!
And how wonderful it is to celebrate our financial health—goodbye, deficit, and hello, growth!
Seeing our church thrive with 20 children joining us each Sunday morning fills me with excitement and gratitude. How blessed we are to worship alongside so many bright young faces!
Despite the challenges that many protestant churches face today, I find myself overflowing with gratitude for our dedicated and resilient congregation. Together, we are shaping the future of Parkdale United Church in ways that bring light and love into our community.
As I gaze into the possibilities of 2025, I see a path ahead filled with growth and the mission to spread God's unconditional love throughout the world.
While I recognize the challenges before us, I remain hopeful. History has shown me that as we band together, lean on one another, and keep our hearts centered on God, we’ll not only overcome obstacles but truly thrive!
Wishing you all abundant blessings for the New Year ahead!
With love,
Rev. Kim
