As we embark on yet another garage sale, spending endless hours collecting, sorting, visiting, and selling,  I am reminded of the joy of community.

A community is not merely a collection of individuals; it is a living organism that nourishes and supports each of us. Our congregation is a place where we can find solace in times of struggle, celebrate in times of joy, and grow together in times of learning.

In our busy lives, it can be easy to forget the significance of what we have here—a group of people bound by faith, compassion, and a shared commitment to serving each other and our broader community. Each of you brings unique gifts, experiences, and perspectives that enrich our collective journey.

Our community is more than just a gathering of people. It's a sanctuary where we find acceptance, understanding, and encouragement. It's a space where we can ask difficult questions, seek guidance, and lend a helping hand to those in need. Together, we weave a tapestry of relationships that strengthen the very fabric of our lives, making each of us feel secure and understood.

Whether volunteering at the garage sale, travelling, or attending another commitment, I encourage you to reflect on how you contribute to our community and how we all benefit from your contribution. Give yourself a pat on the back—you are appreciated!

Knowing When to Walk Away

I sometimes wonder why I write these posts. Often, I write them because I need a reminder of how to be a better person. Sometimes, I need this more than others, and this is one of those posts to remind me to be a better person. Self Compassion

This week hasn't been easy for me. I've been battling a pesky virus, which makes even the smallest tasks challenging. I feel a bit guilty about missing work and letting people down. I tend to be pretty hard on myself. I always strive to be the best version of myself, so when I fall short, I feel disappointed. However, when I see someone struggling or feeling unwell, I’m quick to offer them kindness and understanding. It’s amusing how we can be so much kinder to others than to ourselves. Self-compassion can be a tricky subject. If we indulge in it too much, we risk becoming self-absorbed. Nevertheless, most people find it difficult to grant themselves even a small amount of compassion.
